January 2014 saw large areas of Somerset affected by major flooding and a major incident was declared. Local authorities were organising emergency evacuations, setting up rest centres. MLSS helped support those affected by the floods by providing sand bags and food to local residents to minimise the impact. Our amazing volunteers also assisted in clearing homes and moving furniture. A lovely story coming out of this, one of our volunteers received a thank you card from a little girl thanking him for saving her gold fish.
