Midland Langar Seva Society is an organisation to help the those in need around the UK. The charity was established October 2013 in Walsall providing hot food and drink to those living on the street, schools, safe houses and those on the poverty line. MLSS operates on Sikh based ethos, where we help and support all people regardless of social status. Langar is the term used in the Sikh religion or in Punjab for general or common kitchen / canteen where food is served for free, without prejudice regardless of race, religion, and background.
The charity itself was founded in October 2013 by the CEO Randhir Singh in Walsall, West Midlands, UK. Today with blessings from Guru Granth Sahib Ji and people like yourselves MLSS is now maintained on a much larger scale by a passionate team who give their time to provide a free service to people who need it most.
Our work is done with a Sikh based ethos, meaning we do not discriminate and therefore aim to support people, no matter their culture or background.
We’ve helped thousands of people in need
Midland Langar Seva Society has expanded exponentially over the last 5 years, with us now working successfully across all major cities to offer support to over 30,000+ needy people throughout the UK. We’ve also managed to form valuable links with fantastic charities, businesses and government / religious organisations, who are now working alongside us to combat homelessness and make a better Britain.
MLSS distributes approx 37k feeds per month across the UK alone, with over 500 service volunteers and a fleet of vehicles to help support making it one of the largest homeless charities in the UK. The food served is vegetarian so it is catered for all people from all backgrounds. Along with sustenance, MLSS distribute clothes, blankets, footwear, winter wear and hygiene products.
We continue to expand with new initiatives such as period poverty, school breakfast clubs, women refuge centres, Army Veteran support and recently 24hr emergency parcel drop off.
As a result of the handwork in the UK, MLSS has successfully put projects abroad and subsequently the ‘West Midlands’ on the world map. MLSS are now also operating in Germany, and made regular trips to Greece, France and recently Bangkok, Thailand.
MLSS have progressed in the Punjab region of India, serving individuals and families who have been abandoned, displaced or become refugees, providing free education, clothing and support including their families.
In September 2017 MLSS provided assistance in marrying couples from poor backgrounds providing them with memorable days and a means of earning a honest living.
MLSS relies on donations from generous individuals, corporations and the public to support the charity and requires constant revenue generation. Any donation received can be directed to our UK or World projects. MLSS do not pay any volunteers. Any donation is greatly received just as important please get in touch with us so you can also experience this service. MLSS is truly humbled by this opportunity presented and we move forward together with your support.
