From the outset, the response from parents and the enthusiasm displayed by the children spoke volumes. Under the guidance of our esteemed head coach, Pops, it became evident that boxing was more than just a recreational activity; it became a source of pride and discipline for our young participants.
In 2021, a significant milestone was reached with the establishment of our MLSS Community Hub. This pivotal moment, graced by the presence of John Fury, patriarch of the Fury boxing dynasty, provided us with a permanent home for our Boxing Academy. Situated in Bloxwich, an area renowned for its socio-economic challenges, our presence serves a dual purpose – offering young minds a sanctuary to harness their potential and diverting their energy away from the clutches of gang culture.
Pops’ coaching odyssey commenced in 2019, and over the past four years, he has ascended to the upper echelons of coaching excellence. Armed with a formidable array of qualifications, including the Hatton Academy fundamental and advanced certifications, L1 Board of England Boxing accreditation, a Pro Boxing Licence, and completion of the International Cutsman Course, Pops brings a wealth of expertise and dedication to his role.
As our boxing academy continues to expand, Pops pledges his unwavering commitment to nurturing the talents of individuals at every stage of their boxing journey. Whether a beginner, amateur, or aspiring professional, Pops welcomes all with a genuine passion for the sport, promising personalised attention and guidance .
Looking ahead, Pops envisions a future where the MLSS Boxing Academy thrives as a hub of inclusivity and diversity. Beyond professional coaching, Pops endeavours to make boxing accessible and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of their background, race, religion, or ability. Recognising the therapeutic potential of boxing, the academy extends its reach to individuals with special educational needs and those facing other challenges, fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment within the sport.
Join us as we champion Pops’ vision of a boxing community united by its passion for the sport and its unwavering commitment to inclusivity and opportunity. Together, we’ll continue to build a legacy that transcends the boundaries of the ring, empowering individuals to realise their full potential, one punch at a time.
