Concept of Langar

originated from the first Guru of Sikhs, 'Guru Nanak Dev Ji' of 'Vandkeh Shaknah' to share what you have with others. The principle is a core part of Sikh values across the world and in the Gurudwara, meaning the Gurus Door providing food as 'Seva' (service) to all.

Secondly the concept of Degh (Free Food) is the right of all beings. In today’s terms this is basic Human Rights. Every individual has a right to food regardless of social status, religion, background and beliefs. We are blessed to be part of a principle started by the Guru Nanak and followed by proceeding Gurus.

MLSS ask that you join us on this journey and become part of the #MLSSFamily.

Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji

Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born in 1469 in Talwandi now known as Nanaksar in Pakistan. Founder of Sikh faith he was a Guru, teacher, poet, scientist and social reformer. Guru Nanak Dev Ji passed on the Guruship which included 10 successors and finally all the teachings were compiled to form the final Guru ‘Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.’

Guru Nanak found the “Langar” system, where blessed and free food is distributed to all regardless of social status and background. MLSS are just trying to follow the footsteps of the Gurus and we are humbled and blessed to have this Seva (Service).
